The central solo ambient rock project of Brooklyn native Julius Doogan, was founded in 2020, as a vehicle for experimentation and self expression, ritualized in song.
Over the past six years hundreds of songs were created and released, across 7 albums, and many other formats, with an emphasis on atmospheric human expression, and diy world building,
in hopes of conjuring these new worlds through psychic-automatism in the pursuit of art for arts sake, and reinjecting the humanity into the music industry.
It should be noted that some of these worlds exist under the side projects of
Stages Of Grief & No More Recess.
And that Blood Estate itself, was the second project, after The Dissatisfied Youth
Many of these songs are written in a single sitting. Others were edited painstakingly over months. Some with only a laptop microphone. Some from video recordings, processed in weird ways. Some with very few tracks, some with close to 100 layers. Many are fully solo recordings, while many others are in collaboration with a multitude of other artists across disciplines, genre, and the world!
If you're new, the starting point and center of the project has been the Album "Floodgate," released independently in the first days of 2022, to great grassroots support, at the intersection of ambient, shoegaze, dreampop, and slowcore, and forecasted the increased prevalance that each of these genres would see over the coming years.
For a while, Blood Estate was only an internet bedroom band, watered through grassroots online efforts.
But with the love, help, and encouragement of friends Ray Baker (Soul Online) & Justin Shaw (Xenoch), Blood Estate was reimagined in band form and began to create new worlds together through live shows as well.

Both of whom are incredible genre-bending musicians, who produce transcendant works on their own.

Together in 2024 they toured the North East, ending up in Kalamazoo! It was a 9 show tour with Postcard Nowhere, hitting NJ, Philly, DC, NYC (ofc), Boston, Rochester, Pittsburgh, Detroit!!!, and Kalamazooooooooo

Followed it up by playing with Zeruel & Intention back in brooklyn in the march, and In summer of 2025, they followed it up with a worldwide tour of Philly & NYC as well!

After rapidly developing personal and societal changes, Blood Estate entered an incubational stage for most of 2025, still sharing art, still remaining visible, but building in the dark, and putting the work in the real world.
Figuring out what greater collaboration would look like. And how to embody a greater authentic voice with less fear. To embrace and become one with the performance side of it, so Blood Estate can truly become a live project, not just online.
I feel I must share what has happened in secret.

I have trained in the force, through meditation, and by conducting door to door community outreach and fundraising for NY's premier environmental org, throughout the New York Metropolitan area from the summer months, through the fall, winter, and now spring. I have embraced the world and myself in a greater way than ever before. I have become one with the cold and warmth of the world, and embrace the beginnings, the endings, the thresholds, and the very heart of it all.

With Justin & Ray, we took a step back for a while from playing the songs we were used to, and practiced becoming one through improvisational jams, switching instruments, trying different formats, and laying the ground work to become a more fully realized band. We are truly nearly there, and we have developed a new sound and ethos together, which we hope to both record in Ray's live studio, and share through shows soon.
We shall rock and we shall roll, but most importantly we shall champion a better world together through art, where hate, racism, bigotry, imperialism, genocide, have no place.
Due to the passivity of the music industry itself, recorded formats for the future are aiming to be more visual, multimedia, and film-based, in hopes of fostering a greater connection with humanity, and to create a more legible format for advocacy and self expression.
With this website itself, I hope to be able to further create a newer (older)? kind of community around music (more than just my music too) and humanity again, anchored offline, yet remaining online in a more sustainable, humanist way.
As always though, figuring everything out along the way. And so grateful for that journey.
But I can only do it with your support! At this point, everything has still been done with no label, no manager, no industry support!

Or better yet! See us in the real world!

The world is in a very dark place, but together we can have an impact and fight back, and build a better world together. Organizing in real life is one of the best things you can do, but supporting these orgs financially or sharing resources is also super impactful.
